Disability Law Qld:SPOTLIGHT

We would like to introduce you to Peter Rowe is a Sunshine Coast contemporary artist of extraordinary abilities. Born with Down Syndrome and other conditions that limit his ability to speak, Peter communicates through his art.

Peter has been using his art as a therapy since 2003 to assist with overcoming post traumatic stress. The therapeutic actions of brush strokes, and calming effects of drawing have been his voice beyond words.

Peter uses a huge range of media from charcoal, graphite pencils, water colours and acrylic paints to relieve anxiety, and allow him to find his “Happy Place”.  These mixed media works celebrate his love of family and appreciation of his immediate interests and environment.

Regularly he takes part in ‘Art From The Margins’ and ‘Epic’ art shows in Brisbane, and ‘Immanuel Arts Festival’ on the Sunshine Coast. Galleries in Gympie, Gladstone, Hervey Bay and Cooroy have presented his successful solo shows.

At the Immanuel Arts Festival Peter was invited to be an Artist-In-Residence which provided a fantastic platform to further promote him as a contemporary Australian artist.
