Presentations

I love helping others to understand what it is like to have complex communication needs. Through presentations, conferences and training support staff from a variety of organisations. My art, writing and community education, have given me a platform from which I am able to raise awareness and educate people, about the importance of inclusion and being open to each others differences. I am able to show that disability truly is not a barrier to achievement.

I have  helped train Disability Services (government) staff, uni students and others in the use of Facilitated Communication,I am also invited regularly to speak at government and organisational events. I enjoy school visits where through my children’s books I am able to teach students about inclusion, empathy, kindness and to embrace and accept differences.

My varied activities have helped me grow professionally, but ultimately I want to inspire and encourage others regardless of abilities to express themselves creatively and to show the wider community that disability is not a barrier to achievement. “We all have a responsibility, a social responsibility, to step up and play our part in creating inclusive, diverse and connected communities”. I believe that when we are connected to and part of our communities that greater opportunities are created where individuals are valued for who they are and what they have to offer, I myself am proof of this.
