Immanuel Arts Festival-May 2019
Art Exhibitions
I have been entering art into the Immanuel Arts Festival for many years and have been honoured to have won prizes and been acknowledged for my work. I was thrilled to be invited to be an Artist in Residence along with the talents of fellow Artists, Rachael Curry and Owen Hutchison to celebrate the 39th Anniversary of the Immanuel Arts Festival. The Immanuel Arts Festival exhibits and sells paintings, sculpture, photography, drawings, prints and quality crafts by local artists and students. This event has grown from a small gathering with a limited number of pieces to today’s festival which attracts over 200 emerging and established artists and 800 artworks across a number of different genres including painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media, wearable art, film and creative. The festival proudly promotes visual, creative and performance art within the Sunshine Coast community and in 2019 was held from 23 to 26 May at Immanuel Lutheran College.
My art tutor Cheryl Nonmus and I worked incredibly hard together building up to this exhibition. The body of work I submitted was created on a timeline that required us to be quite disciplined while still allowing the creativity to flow. We were very happy with the end result and the feedback and sales of my work definitely made it all so worthwhile. I am so grateful for opportunities to share my work as an Artist and to show that individuals with disabilities have so much to offer in our communities. I look forward to being part of the Immanuel Arts Festival for many more years to come and sharing my love of art and the power it has in connecting people and breaking down barriers .
Being part of the Immanuel Arts Festival was an absolute pleasure. Meeting so many wonderful people who took the time to stop and share how my art made them feel was incredibly special, and is a very big part of why I continue on my creative journey.
